from its songs which included "Panghat pe muraliya baje"

the year, For "Singaar" (1949) he got the Clare Award
for Best Music Director. His later films "Nishaana "(1950)
and "Neelam Pari" (1952) added new feathers to his cap.
Geeta ji first sang five solo songs for the film Nishana
(1950). "Kaisi murali bajayi shayam ne" is a lovely
song with vintage flavor. The melody "Woh rooth gaye
dil toot gaya" is said to have inspired a famous song
in the year 1951. Tu tu ghar aaja is a song that is a must listen for her fans. Seene ki dhadkan tez hui is also quite delightful. This movie had a fifth song, Ab Bhool Ja which was not released on the records. Khwaja sahab's son Khwaja Irfan Anwar informs us that ecause Khurshid Anwar realized that some violinist gave violin pieces of this song to Husnlal Bhagatram who made that their signature pieces. Although Khurshid Anwar borrowed those pieces from his earlier song of film Singhar( ae bholne wale tujhe ye kon bataaey).Khurshid Anwar must have been pretty
pleased with the results of these as he used her voice in his next movie. |
